Rwanda’s most famous inhabitants - up close.

Rwanda is a landlocked country situated in central Africa. Also known as ’The Land of a Thousand Hills’, Rwanda has five volcanoes, 23 lakes and numerous rivers, some forming the source of the River Nile. The Volcanoes National Park in the Virunga volcanic mountains with its high altitude forests is world famous for mountain gorillas - timid and passive family oriented giants.

Cloudcruising Africa, Day 10 to 12

  • Day 10 | Volcanoes National Park

Volcanoes National Park is the Rwandan section of the great volcanic massif called the Virunga Mountains that straddles the borders of Rwanda, Uganda and the DRC. There is no other wildlife experience quite like an encounter with mountain gorillas. That precious hour spent in their company – watching the group playing, sulking, teasing each other, eating, or dozing just like we do – is extraordinary.

After this memorable experience, you will return to the hotel for a later lunch before a late afternoon departure.

We spend the twilight hours enjoying another gourmet dinner accompanied by fine wines as we fly across Lake Tanganyika.

  • Day 11 | Zimbabwe

This morning our aerial viewing continues as we traverse the Democratic Republic of Congo and cross into Zambia, overflying Kafue National Park before arriving at the Victoria Falls Hotel in Zimbabwe late in the afternoon.

Cruise the Zambezi in the early evening before a BOMA dinner and entertainment at our hotel.

  • Day 12 | Victoria Falls

At more than 1.7km wide, Victoria Falls is the widest in Africa and one of the widest in the world. We’ll walk with expert local guides along some of the trails that offer spectacular views of many parts of the falls.

Lunch is enjoyed at a stunning location overlooking the Victoria Falls Bridge.

We re-join the Airlander late in the afternoon and enjoy the experience of a slow cruise above the falls as we set course south for Cape Town.
